Busy Day at AW1 Tim’s Place

I likely won’t have the next post in the “AW” series up until either late tonight or tomorrow during th day. Lots of chores that need to get done and get in the way of  blogging, etc.

Here’s a pic to tide you over until then. This is CAC-7, VP-10 in 1978. AW1 Tim is back row, 3rd from the left.  Gives you an idea of the size of the crew and also the size of the aircraft. The crew flag is courtesy  of the local Golf Course.

I guess mustaches were all the rage!! I was not allowed to grow a beard but the mustache would have been tolerated although, the Native American in me (Apache by the way) made either of them an impossibility. The prohibition on beards was because of having to wear an OBA while fighting shipboard fires although all the fires I fought were mostly on the flight deck (we had one in the hanger that was pretty nasty but once they opened the elevator doors the air cleared right out). Fun times.
