The LEGO P-3 Orion

I saw this and couldn’t pass it up. Although a tad pricey, it’s a pretty good-sized kit at almost a yard long and with 2000+ pieces. For the P-3 Bubba who has everything, this ought to be a nifty surprise. LEGO P-3 Orion

It’s produced by a company called Mechanized Brick, out of Atlanta, Georgia.

More ASW Goodness to follow tomorrow, with a post about the P-3 Orion Navigator, etc.

My thoughts exactly. For $600, I can purchase 1/72 Hasegawa P-3 kit, a couple of photo-etched brass detail kits for the bomb bay and landing gear, flaps, etc, custom decals, and have about $500 left over for bourbon and other important items 🙂

I’ve been looking around the past couple of years for a 1/48 scale Vacu-form P-3 kit that was released several years back. It was a limited edition model. Took some work, being a basic kit and all, but I’d love to find one. I’ve built a couple of the 1/72 scale Hasegawa kits, back-dating one to a P-3b. Still, I’d like to find the larger 1.48 scale so i could build a cutaway version with a full interior to display.

But that LEGO kit is was cool. My kids already have a couple of HUGE bins full of LEGO bricks and bits. Maybe I can kibosh something together in my spare time….. heh…

Glad to hear from you! I still think it’s a great kit. Does your dad still fly P-3’s?

I was a sensor operator on P-3b’s and P-3cUII’s back in the 70’s and 80’s.

Thanks for dropping by and saying hello.
